The Examination of Walter FRANKCOMBE Brassworker now residing in the Hamlet of Bitton in the said County says on Oath before two of his Majesty's Justices of the Barr in and for the said County this 9th of November 1768.
Who says that he was born in the Parish of Keynsham in the County of Somerset. And this Examinant says that he has in the said Parish an Estate of seven Pounds a Year which is [?assessed] to the [?Town] of the said parish. That about two Years ago this Examinant left the said parish of Keynsham where he had lived for several years before and whilst he lived there he was possessed of the said Estate of the said Town for wherewith the same was charged. That he has done no Act to gain a Settlement then or afterward to his Knowledge. And about twenty eight Years ago he was married in the Parish Church of Bussleton in the County of Somerset to his present wife who's name was Sarah SHEPPARD by whom has has now living with him nine Children namely Walter aged twenty four years, Stephen aged twenty two years, William aged nineteen years, James aged fourteen years, Sarah aged twelve years, Richard aged eleven years, Hester aged about nine years, Elizabeth aged seven years, and Ann aged about five years. And this Examinant says that the said Stephen, William, James, Sarah, Richard, Hester and Elizabeth have not gained any Settlement of themselves. But his said son Walter hath gained a Settlement in the said Parish of Keynsham by being an indentured apprentice to John [?Corss] of the said Parish Cordwainer where and with whom his said son Walter vow'd [?sent] his said apprenticeship.
