'Settlement Examination of James THOMPSON the Younger aged about 23 years now residing in Bitton hamlet, Co. Glos, dated 1769 Dec 13. Who says he is the son of James THOMPSON of Bitton hamlet coppersmith. That about five years ago this Examinant was married in Kelston parish church, Somerset to Mary BUTLER who died about 3 1/2 years ago without issue, and this Examinant 1767 Feb 9th was married in St. Mary, Redcliff parish church to Rebecca BUTLER sister of his former wife, by whom he has living one child named Mary aged about 2 years..'.
