The Examination of Sarah WILLIAMS a Vagabond apprehended and taken in that part of the Parish of Walcott as lies in the said City of Bath, taken upon her Oath, this 20th Day of August, 1787, before me, William ANDERSON/(ANDERDON?) Esquire, Mayor and one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace of and for the said City

Who upon her Oath saith, that she is now about Seventeen Years of Age and was born as she hath heard and believes in the Hamlet of Oland (Oldland) in the Parish of Bitton in the County of Gloucester, where her father Samuel WILLIAMS and Elizabeth his Wife then and still live and are Legally settled, as she ,this Examinant, hath also heard and believed. Saith that since her Birth she, this Examinant, hath not done any Act whatsoever whereby to gain herself a Legal Settlement in any other parish or place. either by apprenticeship or Servitude, renting, Marriage or otherwise to the best of her Knowledge Remembrance and belief. And that being found Lodging in a Slaughter House in that part of the Parish of Walcott as lies in the said city of Bath she was there Apprehended as a Vagrant
