In the name of God Amen. I WILLIAM BATMAN of the parish of Wick and Abson in the county of Gloucester husbandman being weak in body but of a sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do this fifteenth day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say.
First I give and bequeath unto my brother Abraham BATMAN all that my two little tenements together with the garden thereto belonging situate standing and being in the parish of Bitton in the county of Gloucester for and during the term of his natural life and from and after his decease I give the same two little freehold tenements and premises unto Samuel BATMAN son of the said brother Abraham BATMAN and to his heirs and assigns for ever.
Also I give unto my said brother Abraham BATMAN the sum of ten pounds.
Also I give unto my brothers Samuel BATMAN and Thomas BATMAN ten pounds each in cash.
Also I give unto my brother George BATMAN the sum of five pounds.
Also I give unto my kinsman Abraham BATMAN son of my late brother John BATMAN deceased the sum of five pounds.
Also I give unto my two late fellow servants Thomas CADWELL and Dianna SUTTON three pounds each.
Also I give unto my friend and neighbour Henry HATHWAY the sum of five pounds. Also I give unto Phoebe HATHWAY daughter of the said Henry HATHWAY five pounds in money.
Also I give unto John LONG, Betty LONG, Jane LONG, William LONG, Sarah LONG, James LONG, Joseph LONG and Hannah LONG sons and daughters of my brother in law William LONG five pounds each in cash
and my will is that all my wearing apparel both linen and woollen shall be equally divided between my four brothers namely Samuel BATMAN, George BATMAN, Thomas BATMAN and Abraham BATMAN share and share alike.
And my further will is that all the before mentioned legacies shall be paid by my executor hereunder named in one year next after my decease. All the rest and residue of my monies goods chattels and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever my debts and funeral expenses first being paid and discharged. I give unto my brother in law William LONG whom I make whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

son of John and Ann. He appears to have been unmarried. He is mentioned in the
will of John dated 14.2.1766
