This is the last will and testament of me William WILLIAMS of the hamlet of Oldland, parish of Bitton, county of Gloucester, Farmer. Made on this fifth day of April in the year of our Lord 1847.

Firstly I desire that all my past debts funeral and testimentory expenses be paid and satisfied by my executors herein after named as soon ...... maybe after my decease and secondly I give devise and bequeath unto my good and faithful servant Simon BATEMAN and unto his heirs for ever all my real estate namely the house garden and field called Weeks Place now in the occupation of Francis WILLIAMS as tenant situate in the aforesaid hamlet parish and county.

Also a house and garden with their appurtenances now in the occupation of Sampson FUDGE as tenant situate Mount Hill hamlet parish and county aforesaid.

Likewise a house and garden with the apprtenances now in the occupation of James FUDGE as tenant situate also at Mount Hill hamlet parish and county aforesaid. Also a house and garden with their appurtenances now in the occupation of Richard C...... situate at Mount Hill hamlet parish and county aforesaid.

Likewise the house I now occupy together with the barn stable with yard garden all appurtances.

Also a piece of land at Caddy Moor containing about one acre and two roods.

Likewise a piece of land near Daniel PETTYGROVES containing nearly five acres the whole situate in the hamlet parish and county aforesaid.

Also if I am possessed of any real estate not before mentioned or should my heirs be entitled to any estate after my decease I give devise and bequeath the same unto my faithful servant Simon BATEMAN and unto his heirs for ever.

And I hereby desire that no part of the aforesaid estate shall ever be sold or mortgaged.

Likewise I give and bequeath unto my faithful servant Simon BATEMAN all and every my household furniture linen and wearing apparel books plate pictures china horses carts wagons and carriages and also and every sum and sums of money which may be in my house or be about my person or owed to me at the time of my decease and also all other my stocks funds securities for money book debts money on ...... notes or their securities and all and every other my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever both real and personal whether in possession reversion or espectuary but although I have given the whole of my real estate and effects to Simon BATEMAN it is on this condition that the said Simon BATEMAN or heirs in case of his decease pay out of the same estates and effects unto my faithful servant Ann SMITH the sum of £50 within six calendar months after my decease on condition that she continues to be my servant until my decease.

Also he the said Simon BATEMAN or his heirs in case of his decease shall pay unto my beloved wife Mary the sum of 12 shillings weekly during the term of her natural life also her funeral expenses.

Likewise the said Simon BATEMAN or his heirs in case of his decease unto my sister Hester WILLIAMS the sum of 5 shillings weekly to ...... at my wife's decease and to ...... during the time of my said sisters life.

Also my will is that my wife Mary may if she desires reside in either of those houses which is now in the several occupations of Sampson FUDGE James FUDGE and Richard C...... at Mount Hill free of all rent and rates during the term of her natural life and should the said Simon BATEMAN or his heirs at any time neglect to pay such legacies I have charged him with then I empower my other executor his heirs and assigns to ...... the said Simon BATEMAN or upon his ...... as may be for the payments of such legacies or annuities so unpaid and I hereby ...... appoint Mr Henry STONE of Kingswood Hill and servant Simon BATEMAN to be first executors of this my will.

Revoking all previous wills and testaments by me made I declare this only to be my last ...... Witness I have set my hand and seal William (his mark) WILLIAMS.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us ...... its his ..... at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses: George WALKER; George (his mark) GODFREY; Constantine FEEKE.

Proved at London the thirtieth of September 1848 before the ...... by the oaths of Henry STONE and Simon BATEMAN the executors to whom ...... was granted having been first sworn by Commission duly to administer.
