I am researching the BROWN family who lived in Bitton between (1800-1855) My Robert was the youngest son of Robert BROWN and Sarah ROACH, who were married by license 26 Jan 1796 at Nailsea. I have a settlement & Removal certificate dated 1800 for the above family between the overseers of the parishes of Bitton and Nailsea.
Children of Robert and Sarah
1) Hannah born 1796. Baptized in Nailsea, Somerset. Mentioned in the settlement certificate of 1800, age 4yrs. She married JOHN GOOD 25 May 1820 St Mary's, Bitton and lived in Cadbury Heath, Oldland
2) William born 1799 baptized Nailsea. Mentioned on the settlement certificate.
3) John born 1801 Bitton baptized at Hanham Abbots 1805. He married 1) Ann GOLDING, 14 Aug 1824 St Mary's Bitton. Ann died 1829. He then married Sarah abt 1830/1.
4) Robert born 1805 baptized Hanham Abbots 1805 He married Mary COOL(e) the same day as John married Ann on the 14 Aug 1824 at St Mary's Bitton.
The families lived in The Batch area of Cadbury Heath, Bitton 1841 & 1851. John & Robert were both coal miners. Robert and Mary moved to the Ranks, Pucklechurch around 1856. Mary BROWN nee COOL died 16 Nov 1862 and Robert 27 Dec 1874 Pucklechurch.
