The earliest known SUMPTION is William, who died 1779, Bitton. He and wife Sarah (possibly nee FOX) had four daughters, named in William's will:
Ann SUMPTION (Per IGI extraction, bap 28 Sep 1725, SS Philip & Jacob; later m. William PALMER, per Title Lease)
Sarah SUMPTION (Per IGI extraction, bap 22 Aug 1731, SS Philip & Jacob; m. Richard HOLLISTER, 1778, Bath)
Mary SUMPTION (Per IGI extraction, bap 27 May 1733, Bristol; m. John OLDS, 1757, Bitton)
Elizabeth SUMPTION (b abt 1741, per her burial; m. William THOMPSON, 1761, Bitton)

We descend from Elizabeth and William THOMPSON. Their son, Sumption THOMPSON, is the first family member known to have the name Sumption as a forename.
