In the name of God Amen. I George BATMAN of the parish of Bitton in the county of Gloucester being mindful of my mortality do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following:
First I give and devise unto my wife Martha BATMAN all that messuage or tenement with the land adjoining situate in the hamlet of Oldland in the aforesaid parish of Bitton with all my stock of cattle implements of husbandry dairy utensils furniture &c during the term of her natural life after her decease to be equally divided between Phoebe, Sarah, Martha and Rachel BATMAN daughter of me George BATMAN by paying out of the above legacy to Hannah LEE daughter of me George BATMAN the sum of thirty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain.
Also to Harriot PRIGG daughter as aforesaid the sum of twenty pounds but if the said Harriot PRIGG and her daughter Harriot should happen to die before the aforesaid Martha BATMAN the aforesaid twenty pounds to be equally divided between Phoebe and Sarah BATMAN share and share alike.
Also I give to my daughter Miraculas LEWIS the sum of one shilling all the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and what nature kind and quality soever the same may be and not before given and disposed of after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses I do hereby give unto my wife Martha BATMAN for and during the term of her natural life.
Lastly I constitute and appoint my son George BATMAN with Phoebe BATMAN my daughter to be executor and executrix of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this ninth day of June one thousand eight hundred and six.
