In the name of God Amen. I James HARRIS carpenter at Longers Green in the hamlet of Hanham parish of Bitton Glos. Do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
I give all my freehold and leasehold messuages lands and tenements and real estate whatsoever and of what nature kind or property soever the same may be I give and devise the same and everypart thereof unto friends Thomas PEARSALL of Willsbridge in the said parish of Bitton gentleman and John WALL tea dealer in Bridge Street, Bristol their heirs and assigns. To the uses upon the Trust and to and for the ends intents and purposes herein after mentioned expressed and declared of and concerning the same (Viz)
To the use of dear wife Mary HARRIS and her assigns for ever during the years of her natural life if she continue my widow. All and every part of my freehold and leasehold lands, tenements and real estate of what kind soever, to be enjoyed by her the said Mary HARRIS during her natural life, except should she marry and on such case it is my will and desire that on the day of her marriage that the whole of my estate of what kindsoever shall go to those hereafter mentioned in this my last will and testament.
That is to say I give unto my two friends Mr. Thomas PEARSALL and Mr. John WALL their heirs and executors administrators and assigns on Trust.upon trust. For my son Edward HARRIS his heirs executors adminstrators and assigns for ever , not to be sold but to continue from heir to heir forever. All those my four pieces of freehold lands containing together four acres and three quarter more or less lying as hereafter mentioned. Two pieces of freehold land containing two acres more or less in the field called the poor Tineing, one piece of half an acre more or less lying in the field called New Tineing. One piece of land containing three quarters an acre more or less lying in the field called Little Field bounding Mr CRESWICK's Popley Piece. One piece of land of one and a half acres more or less joining Keynsham Bridge.
Also I give in Trust to my two friends Mr. Thomas PEARSALL and John WALL for my son James HARRIS all that my freehold estate situate at Longers Green, late part of Mrs PARRY's estate consisting of one house and garden with one acre of land more or less adjoining the dwelling house during his life and if he should have any children it is my will and desire that it should be continued to his heirs executors adminstrators and assigns forever not to be sold but to be kept in the family
but it is my will that if my said son James HARRIS should die without child or children then after his death I give the same freehold house garden and piece of garden to my son Daniel HARRIS during his life and at his death to his son James HARRIS his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever not to be sold for ever, and should James HARRIS the son of Daniel HARRIS die before he attains the age of twenty one years or after, should he have another son my will is that the above house, garden and ground should go to the next son of Daniel HARRIS - if no son then or after I give the same freehold house garden and piece of ground to the next heir of Samuel HARRIS's family his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever not to be sold but to continue in the family for ever.
Also I give to my two friends Mr. Thomas PEARSALL and John WALL their heirs executors adminstrators and assigns in trust for my son Samuel HARRIS his heirs executors administrators and assigns all that freehold tenement and orchard in which I dwell part of Mrs Parry's estate at Longers Green with one acre of freehold land more or less in the Little Field. Also all that tenement garden and orchard called Blackers situate at Longers Green for all my estate terms and interest therein which shall be then to come and unexpired also my will and desire is that lifes should be put in when any falls off by death so that my estates may be continued to the family and not sold from them forever
Also my will and desire is that after the decease of my son Samuel HARRIS that the house garden and orchard called part of Mrs Parry's estate be giving to George HARRIS son of Samuel HARRIS his heirs executors administrators and assigns to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever but if George HARRIS die before the age of twenty one years then my will and desire is that it be left according to the will and desire of my son Samuel HARRIS
Also the new house joining to my estate called Mrs Parry's with the garden and one acre more or less of freehold land called the Little Field I give and bequeath to Samuel HARRIS son of Samuel HARRIS after the decease of his father his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever but should Samuel HARRIS die before he attains the age of twenty one years then I leave the house garden and field to be disposed of according to the will and desire of my son Samuel HARRIS to be continued to his heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give to my friends Mr Thomas PEARSAL and John WALL their executors administrators and assigns in trust for my son Daniel HARRIS his heirs executors administrators and assigns all that my leasehold estate called Beavers situate in Kingswood in the hamlet of Woolings with one ground called Workmans Green containing three acres more or less with another ground called the Shop Patch containing three acres more or less.
Also I give to my son Daniel HARRIS the tenement he now dwells joining my freehold estate called part of Mrs Parry's estate all those my two leasehold estates namely the Beavers and the tenement in which my son Daniel HARRIS now dwells, I give and bequeath to him his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever, not to be sold but when any falls off by death my will and desire is that lives may be renewed to continue the estates to him his heirs executors adminstrators and assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath the following legacies to be paid out of my freehold and leasehold estates each to pay a share alike. That is to say Edward HARRIS, James HARRIS, Samuel HARRIS and Daniel HARRIS their heirs executors and administrators and assigns from the forementioned estates as soon as any of the following children attains the age of twenty one years to them their heirs or assigns namely To the children of my late daughter Elizabeth BURCHELL I give and bequeath to James BURCHILL five pounds, to George BURCHELL five pounds, to Ann BURCHELL five pounds. To William BURCHELL five pounds without any deduction whatever to be paid as before mentioned from the estates of Edward HARRIS, James HARRIS, Samuel HARRIS and Daniel HARRIS. on the above children attaining the age of twenty one years.
Also I give and bequeath to the children of my late daughter Sarah FRANKHAM as hereafter mentioned. That is to Job FRANKHAM five pounds, to James FRANKHAM five pounds, to John FRANKHAM five pounds, to William FRANKHAM five pounds, to Samuel FRANKHAM five pounds, to Moses FRANKHAM five pounds, to Walter FRANKHAM five pounds, to George FRANKHAM five pounds and to Sarah FRANKHAM five pounds of lawful money of Great Britain money on any of the above children attaining to the age of twenty one years without any deductions whatever, from the estates above mentioned, namely from the estate of Edward HARRIS, James HARRIS, Samuel HARRIS and Daniel HARRIS and this is my will should either or all of those exprest by name in this my last will and testament refuse to pay such legacies my will and desire is that the legatees their heirs administrators or assigns shall seize on any or all of the estates belonging to Edward HARRIS, James HARRIS, Samuel HARRIS and Daniel HARRIS for the legacies mentioned in this my last will and testament.
Also should of the children of my late daughter Elizabeth BURCHELL die before they attain the age of twenty one years then my will is that the share or shares should be equally divided amongst the remaining child or children. Also should any of the children of my late daughter Sarah FRANKHAM's children die before they attain the age of twenty one years my will and desire is that the surviving child or children be intitled to the full sum expressed in this my last will and testament. To be paid them or any of the surviving family without any deduction whatever and should a refusal be from either Edward HARRIS, James HARRIS, Samuel HARRIS and Daniel HARRIS then the child or children of may late daughters Elizabeth BURCHILL or Sarah FRANKHAM their heirs administrators of assigns shall seize on the estate or estates for the payments of the above legacies.
Also should their be moneys good or chattels at my decease this with all the estates I give to my wife Mary HARRIS during her natural life and at her death to dispose of moneys and goods according to her desire, she remaining my widow being through mercy in perfect health and soundness of mind for which may I bless God and having settled and agreeable to my desire and in as regular a manner as possible I rest satisfied that to the best of my thoughts I have justly divided my estates therefore I sign this my last will and testament in the presence of those witnesses having fixed my name to the six foregoing sheets and to this my hand and seal this sixteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and ninety eight.

Having ommitted one piece of free land lying Lundy Londonderry called the sands containing three quarters of an acre more or less.
Now I do give the same to my son Edward HARRIS his heirs administrators and assigns for ever. Also it is my will and desire to give unto George BURCHILL senior one shilling to be paid out of my estate as soon as my last will and testament is read. Also I give to James FRANKHAM senior one shilling to be paid him as soon as my will is read after my decease by my friends Messrs. PEARSALL and WALL executors in trust. This being agreeable to my last will in every respect with the above I also set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight in the presence of those witnesses having hereto fixed my hand and seal.

On the fourth day of June 1803 Mr Thomas PEARSAL and Mr John WALL legally renounced and refused to take upon themselves the execution of the said will. On the thirteen day of June 1803 his widow Mary HARRIS was sworn to act as executor in the sum of three hundred pounds by Edward POWELL commisioner.
Exhibited in Court at Assizes held in Gloucester March 29th 1832.
