In the Name of God Amen the sixteenth day of April 1773 I John OLDS of the hamlet of Hanham in the parish of Bitton in the county of Gloucester, cooper being weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God Therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all from ours[?] to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Christian like burial at the discretion of my executors and as [can't read] such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form

ITEM I give and bequeath to my son in law Solomon LEONARD five pounds at my decease as a token of my love and good will

ITEM I give to my daughter Ann fifty pounds when she arrives to twenty one years of age or at the day of marriage ITEM I give to my said daughter all and singular her mothers wearing apparel linen woollen and silk ITEM I give to my said daughter my cottage house with the garden and orchard thereunto belonging on Jefferies Hill lately occupied by William FLOWER ITEM To my said daughter part of my household goods as followeth my bed that I lieth on with the bedstead and bedding thereunto belonging my clock and my largest oval table my warming pan [?] mark half my pewter of all sorts the fire grate fender[?] slice[?] and tongs and poker two half [?] and if my said daughter should happen to die before my said bequeathed effects shall come into her possession that is to say at twenty one years of age

then my will is that it shall all fall into the hands and possession of my son John whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole executor and trust of this my last will and testament all and singular my dwelling house that I now dwell in with all my lands messuages and tenements with all my monies securities for [blot on page!] with all that I shall die possessed of that is not already bequeathed freely to be possessed and enjoyed by him at the day of my death

and I have made[?] [another blot!] of my friend William PROCTOR to be my lawful trustee to act together with my son John and I give my friend William PROCTOR one guinea as a token of my love and I commend my said daughter under the care of William PROCTOR to breed[?] her up till she comes to the age of twenty one years the expense to be paid out of my estate by my executor and my will is that my chest with all my daughters and her brothers cloaths shall be delivered into the care and keeping of the said William PROCTOR and I do hereby declare this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written

John OLDS signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said John OLDS as his last will and testament in the presence of us the subscribers Hannah CLARK Mary CLARK and Jas HARDING

This will was proved at London the twelfth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five before the Right Worshipful Sir George Day Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of our Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of John OLDS the son of the deceased and sole executor named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased having been first sworn by commission duly to administer
