This is the last Will and Testament of me Coster THOMPSON of Publow in the County of Somerset Coppersmith. I give devise and bequeath unto James BRAIN of Bitton in the County of Gloucester Yeoman and Edwin SMITH of Publow aforesaid, Gentleman all that my undivided and other share and shares interest and interests of and in the freehold Estate Farm and lands rolled or known by the account of Boyd Mill Estate situate in the Parish of Bitton in the County of Gloucester with the rights members and appurtenances thereto belonging to hold the same and every part thereof with the appurtenances unto the use of them the said James BRAIN and Edwin SMITH their heirs and assigns upon trust as soon as may be after my decease to sell and dispose thereof either by public Auction or private contract as my said trustees shall think proper and as to the money to arise therefrom after deducting all expenses attending such sale and paying all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses/ if the residue of my personal Estate and Effects not herinafter specifically bequeathed should be insufficient for that purpose/ to stand possessed of the residue thereof upon trust for all and every my children equally to be divided between them share and share alike.
I give devise and bequeath unto all and every my said children all that my undivided and other part or share parts or shares and interests of in and to that Golden Valley Coal Works in the Parish of Bitton aforesaid with the lands and Herediments herto belonging to hold to them their heirs executors administrators and assigns according to the excure/nature thereof as tenants in common and not as joint tenants.
I give and bequeath unto my son Sumption THOMPSON one large chest of drawers five chairs usually standing in my parlor One Mahogany round Tea Board One square dressing table Two oval trundles One butter churn. I give and bequeath unto my son Lamorock Flower THOMPSON One eight day clock and case One bed and bolster One bedstead One quill One corner cupboard One Mahogany tea table And One china bowl. I give and bequeath unto my son William Francis THOMPSON One square Mahogany table One elm box One Japanese tea tray One coxrming pan One small elm box and One kuik box. I give and bequeath unto my son Peter THOMPSON One bed and bolster One bedstead One cupboard with a glass front One large Oak chest One Walnut bureau One large Portugal bowl One write counterpane Three large pictures and two brass candlesticks. I give and bequeath unto my son George Partridge THOMPSON One set of yellow bed curtains One small china bowl One tea tray One glass in the kitchen and One bedstead. I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth, the wife of William THOMPSON, One bedstead One bolster One Walnut chest of drawers One set of china Two silk mantles One dimity mantle One large sheet One pillow One best quilt One box marked "Adam and Eve" One oval tray One basin Three needle work pictures One large piece glass in the parlor One oval tea caddy One brass pestle One mortar and Two h/Icroctrs.
I give unto my son William Francis THOMPSON five pounds and to my son George Partridge THOMPSON three pounds I give and bequeath unto the said James BRAIN and Edwin SMITH their executors administrators and assigns all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my personal Estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever upon trust to convert the same into money and after paying the expenses thereof to stand possessed of the residue of such money upon trust to pay thereout all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and after payment thereof upon trust to pay the remainder/ if any/ unto all and every of my said children share and share alike.
I give to the said James BRAIN and Edwin SMITH their heirs executors administrators and assigns all the real estate vested in me as trustee or mortgagee in fees or otherwise subject to the trusts and equities offering the same respectively provided also in case either of the trustees of this my will shall die in my lifetime or shall refuse the trusts or in case of any trustee for the time being shall die or become unable or unwilling to act then I empower the surviving or continuing trustee or trustees or if there shall be none such then the Executors or Administrators of the deceased trustee or if there shall be more than one such trustee then the executors or administrators of the last surviving of such deceased trustees or the refusing or retiring trustee or trustees/ as the case may be/ by anyone in coriting? to appoint any person or persons in the room of such deceased refusing retiring or incompetent trustees and every trustee so appointed shall be fully competent to exercise all the powers which are reposed in the trustees hereby named and
I appoint the same James BRAIN and Edwin SMITH to be Executors in trust of my will hereby revoking all other wills. In witness whereof I have herunto set my hand this eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty. (Signed) Coster THOMPSON.

Nick's line. Coster (1868-1841) was a s/o William THOMPSON/Elizabeth SUMPTION. He m. Honour FLOWER, 1802, Bitton and this family lived in Publow. His parents had five children bap Bitton, then five others bap Publow.
