Be it Known that at the date hereunder written the last Will and Testament of Edmund THOMPSON of 123 High Street Bournbrook, Selly Oak in the County of Worcester, Foreman of Metal Works deceased, who died on the 21st day of April 1898, at Selly Oak aforesaid and who at the time of his death had a fixed place of abode at Selly Oak aforesaid within the district of the County of Worcester was proved and registered in the District Probate Registry of Her Majesty's High Court of Justice at Worcester and that Administration of all the estate which by law devolves to and vests in the personal representative of the said deceased was granted by the aforesaid Court to Joseph John BRADLEY of 15 Buckingham Street in the City of Birmingham Brass Caster and Rivers Dunnett of 83 Bristol Road in the said City of Birmingham Ironmonger, the Executors named in the said will, they having been first sworn to administer the same according to law.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Edmund THOMPSON of Bournbrook Selly Oak in the county of Worcester Foreman of Metal Works. Whereby I revoke all previous wills and Testamentary dispositions and declare this to be my last will I give my six antique chairs in the parlour and all my china to my wife Ann Palmer THOMPSON absolutely
I give my eight day clock to my daughter Alice Wife of Walter BRIGHT of Tiverton Road Selly Oak aforesaid. I bequeath the remainder of my household furniture plate, linen, glass, and effects to my Trustees herinafter named. Upon trust to permit my said wife to have the use and enjoyment whereof during her life she keeping the same insured against fire and in good repair (reasonable wear and tear excepted) and I direct that my Trustees shall take an inventory of the said household furniture and effects which shall be signed by them and by my said wife but my Trustees shall not be concerned to see to the insurance or repair of the said household furniture and effects nor be liable for any loss or damage which may happen thereto and after the death of my said wife.
I direct that my said trustees shall call together my sons and daughters and my step daughter Rose Pough CULLIMORE wife of Charles CULLIMORE of Selly Oak aforesaid then living and the issue of any of them who may then be dead and shall offer to them for sale by auction article by article all my said household furniture and effects and if any of my said Sons Daughters Step Daughter or issue shall desire to purchase any article the same shall go to the highest bidder and any article or articles sold shall fall into the residue of my estate.
I give devise and bequeath all the real residue and remainder of my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever not hereinbefore disposed of unto and to the use of Joseph John BRADLEY of Buckingham Street in the City of Birmingham Brass Caster and Rivers DUNNETT of Bristol Street in the said city of Birmingham Ironmonger their heirs executors and administrators respectively according to the nature and tenure thereof upon trust that they or the survivor of them or the executors or administrators of such survivor (all which several persons are herinafter referred to as "the trustees") shall sell call in collect or otherwise convert into money such parts of the said trust premises as shall not consist of ready money and shall out of the monies to arise from such sale and conversion and the ready money of which I shall be possessed at my death pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the legacies (if any) other than specific bequeathed by this my Will and any codicil hereto and shall invest the residue of the said monies in the names or name or under the legal control of the Trustees in or upon any investments for the items being authorised by law as investments for trust funds and shall pay to my said wife or permit her to receive during her life the income of the said trust monies and after her death shall hold the said trust premises in trust for such of my children living at my death and such of my grandchildren living at my death and being children of any child of mine having predeceased me as being male attain the age of twenty one years or being female attain that age or marry and if more than one in equal shares per ?stirpes? so that my children taking under this trust shall take in equal shares and my grandchildren taking under this trust shall take equally between them the share which the parent would have taken had he or she survived me.
Provided always and I hereby declare that in the foregoing trust the words "child" and children" as applied to my Sons and Daughters shall be taken to include my said Stepdaughter and the word "grandchildren" shall be taken to include the children of my said Stepdaughter it being my express desire that she and her children shall share in my estate in the same manner in all respects as if she and they were my own child and grand children respectively.
Provided always that if my said daughter Alice BRIGHT shall predecease me without leaving children who take under the preceding trust then I devise my Trustees to pay to the said Walter BRIGHT her husband if he shall survive me the sum of one hundred pounds. Provided always and I hereby declare that the Trustees may postpone the sale calling in and conversion of or any part or parts of my said real and personal estate respectively and may continue the same in such state of investment as it shall be in at my death so long as in their discretion shall seem proper.
I hereby declare that the power of appointing a new Trustee or Trustees of this my Will shall be exercisable by my said wife and I appoint the said Joseph John BRADLEY and Rivers DUNNETT Executors of this my will. In witness whereof I the said Edmund THOMPSON have to this my will set my hand this twenty fourth day of January one thousand eight hundred and ninety four.
Signed by the said Testator Edmund THOMPSON as and for his last will and Testament in the presence of us. Present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have herunto subscribed our names as witnesses.
