In the name of God Amen I Joan WILLMOTT of the parish of St. James in the city of Bristol widow being sick and weak in body but of sound and disposing mind and memory (thanks be given to God for the same) do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) First I recommend my soul to God and my body I commit to the earth as it shall please God to order according to the discretion of my executors hereinafter named And to such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased the Almighty God to bless me with I give and dispose thereof as followeth

First I give and bequeath unto my loving brother Thomas MATTHEW of the parish of Ystradowen in the county of Glamorgan Taylor all my household goods and furniture and also all my money goods and chattels I shall die possessed of and which shall be due to me at my decease

And I desire my executor to pay my funeral expenses and further my mind and will is to be buried in a private and decent manner

And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said brother Thomas MATTHEW full and sole executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former and other will by me heretofor made declaring this only to be my last will and testament

In witness whereof to this my said will I have hereunto set my hand and seal this first day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty seven and in the twenty first year of the reign of our sovereign lord George the second by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Joan WILLMOT as and for her last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the said testatrix

The eighteenth day of September 1747 proved at Bristol before the Revd. William CARY clerk MA vicar general by the oath of Thomas MATTHEW sole executor and to whom etc.
