Gloucestershire Families
William is our earliest known MEERE ancestor, who was b. abt 1716. His 1793 will is one of our earliest family documents. He had been granted a lease to The Crown Inn at Tolldown in 1776. In this series of wills, the lease is passed from William to wife Mary to spinster daughters Mary and Hester. Upon their deaths a few months apart in 1825, the lease appears to leave the family.

Selly Oak Families (originating in Bitton)
John MEERE (son of John MEERE and Rachel LEWIS, of Bitton) and his wife (first cousin), Mary Ann Meere (nee THOMPSON) MEERE (daughter of James THOMPSON and Hester MEERE, of Bitton) were part of a primarily THOMPSON relocation from the Bitton area to Selly Oak, bef the 1861 Census. By the time Mary Ann died in 1898, age 73, she had survived her husband, all six of her children, and several grandchildren.
